It is Super Bowl Sunday – Stick With Beer

Super Bowl Beer

While some websites will be touting beer cocktails for Super Bowl Sunday we’re more of a traditional type; just beer.  While there is always a time and place for beer cocktails, grabbing a lemon and some lavender infused bitters to create a more interesting Hefeweizen may not work this Sunday.

Let’s face it, people overwhelmingly drink mass produced beer. That’s the typical Coors Light, Bud Light, Corona, on and on and on.  We respect that.  There are plenty of times where I reach for a light beer and sadly the craft beer market just hasn’t gotten into that market.  Come on guys let’s pull together some good craft ‘session beers’.

So what if you want something a bit different for Super Bowl Sunday.  Well, there are a couple of options for you; without rocking the boat too much.

Option 1: Go with a craft beer
There’s plenty of selection now and in some stores you can make your own six pack to try a couple different varieties.  Could be a perfect time to try some new beers with friends; particularly if they are beer geeks.

Option 2:  Support the local
While Super Bowl Sunday is about watching teams fight it out on the field, why not support the local team and purchase a six pack brewed locally.  If you’re in RVA I’d hit up a Legend Brown or Legend Lagar.

Option 3:  A case of class
Most of the time you’ll be hanging out with buddies you’ve know for a while.  Well, why not bring a case of beer that’ll put a smile on everyone’s face.  Maybe you all drank Icehouse or Milwaukee’s Best back in the day, well go retro.  Or you all went on a trip together where mass amounts of Red Stripe were consumed.   Or everyone’s a Coors Light fan.  Bring Coors Original and then explain why a person such as yourself with an impeccable metabolism and who exercises frequently doesn’t need to ‘calorie count’.
But most importantly; enjoy some beers on Super Bowl Sunday.  Or the old standbys of whiskey and coke; or just whiskey.
