


Whiskey began on the east coast in the 1700’s when the immigrants from Scotland, Ireland, and England produced a rye whiskey; they used rye because they were not as familiar with corn. When the United States government began taxing distilled spirits, a revolt called the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 occurred.
